on being true to yourself

I came up with a curious link of a computer-related concept to the real life.

The concept in question is called „bit rot“ and it describes how the software becomes less and less usable over time even though its digital nature keeps it in perfect original shape. The reason for that is all the changes to the environment of the software: operating system, programming libraries, standards, formats, and protocols. The worlds goes on and leaves the original version behind.

I guess there is the same side to people aging. You are fine at first, you fit the world well. Then the world goes ahead, and if you stay the same old yourself you stay behind. And then you don’t fit the world anymore.

That definitely gives me a new perspective on staying true to myself.
