Berlin a century later
The russian segment of Internet has already seen a lot of jokes about the potential repetition of the hundred years old events of 1917. This is not one of them. It is just an analogy I saw after reading an article about large share of russian investors buying apartments in Berlin. I guessed that one of the reasons for that could be the fact that a century later Berlin once again becomes the biggest hub of modern technologies in Europe. Here started the first european factory for the light bulbs by Edison’s patent, and because of it Berlin became "the city of light" then. Now it is becoming the capital of IT start-ups.
Incidentally the office of Nokia/Here where I worked for four years is located precisely at the same place as the former laboratory of the inventor Rathenau, who licensed the Edison’s patent. This is how I know the story.
